Between lakes, mountains and culture: all the activities in Valsugana
There is always something new to discover.
Every day can take you somewhere different: among the Lagorai mountains, along the Valsugana Cycle Path, in front of a work of art surrounded by woodland or at a table that tells the story of the local area.
ou only have to choose how you want to experience your holiday.
Between lakes and mountains
Clear waters, views that change around every bend and mountains stretching across the horizon. From the shores of the lake to the plateau pastures and the trails climbing towards Lagorai, Valsugana offers remarkably varied landscapes, often just a few kilometres apart.
Our suggestions
- Arte Sella – a contemporary art trail in the form of an open-air museum, where the works interact with the landscape and change together with nature.
- Vetriolo Terme – Europe’s highest thermal baths and an ideal starting point for scenic walks.
- Vezzena Plateau – vast pastures, First World War heritage and the birthplace of the famous Vezzena cheese.
- Pizzo di Levico – one of the most spectacular viewpoints over Valsugana and the lakes of Levico and Caldonazzo.
- The Vaia Dragon and the Lagorai She-Wolf – just some of the striking works by Matalar, who has brought our forests back to life through evocative sculptures.
Romanda’s tip
Every season offers a different landscape. Before setting off, stop by reception: we will be happy to recommend the route best suited to the time you have available and the kind of excursion you would like.
Between trails, art and views
Walking through Valsugana also means coming across works of art, historic sites and places that tell the story of the area from different perspectives. From the large sculptures by Marco Martalar to the forts of the Great War and the little treasures hidden among the woods, every stop adds another piece to your discovery of the valley.
Things to see
- The Lagorai She-Wolf – a monumental sculpture by Marco Martalar, made from wood recovered after Storm Vaia.
- The Vaia Dragon – one of the artist’s best-known works, imposing and highly dramatic, created from the same material.
- Benne Fort – an Austro-Hungarian fortification reached by a pleasant walk from Levico.
- San Biagio Church– a small historic building containing precious 14th-century frescoes.
- Valsugana Cycle Path – a route along the Brenta, also ideal for those who want to explore the area by bicycle.
- The ruins of Selva Castle– a reminder of one of Trentino’s grandest castles, built in the 5th century; today its ruins offer an evocative view over the valley.
- Pergine Castle and its walls – a magnificent medieval castle just a short distance from Levico. The walk around its walls is beautiful.
